you know i thought i liked this, even though i messed up the crop. thought the color leaves over the white gray trees in the background gave a neat look.

but now that i posted it here, and i am looking at it. I think this really kind of sucks. i should probably go delete it.

I'd keep it. I think it works pretty well for the reason you stated. It might be improved a bit by cropping just a little on the top and bottom (bright area on top and a few things sticking up on the bottom). If you want to do some further adjustments, darkening both the background area on the left and the leaves on the ground would help, imo.
