Mother and Daughter Shoot.

Yesterday I had a shoot with a mother and daughter. They were brilliant and a good time was had by all.

Although I don't often shoot non dancers I'm starting to get more requests so C&C are particularly welcome.

My wife (assistant) was after shots with hair flying so she had her hairdryer going on them - It wasn't a great success but it did get them giggling. Not sure if I should try and clone out mum's random flying strands across her neck?

I know this pose is a bit of a cliché but I thought I'd run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.

Nice set; I'm seeing just a slight under-exposure and very, very light green cast, especially in #1.

Lovely ladies, and nicely done! I agree with John... WB might be off a tad..

3 and 4 are pretty close to perfect-they could use a little warming up but otherwise they're great. I'm not loving the shadow mom's head creates on the daughter in #1; I would take her head from that one and place it on #2, since in that one, her smile seems forced. Since they are generally the same pose and facing the same direction, it would be an easy paste. Just a quick idea:

Did you look at them in full size? The thumbnails on the page look quite "off" by comparison. There have been complaints about that on other threads. I did warm them up a fair bit and my monitor is usually quite accurate. If you saw the full size I'll look again hard, I admit to a slight tendency to err on the side of caution when it comes to warming tones and upping exposure... Probably 'cos everyone in the UK is blue with cold at the moment and under exposed.

Good thinking! I'd missed that shadow. I may well take your suggestion on board when I submit them to the client, as you say it'll be easy enough to do. :thumbup:

You're right; they're much better in the full size; exposure looks good, and WB seems fine. Something about the compression I guess.

I agree.. Something looms off color wise. 1 like mentioned, the shadow.. And I feel like mom should have been the one behind in that pose. 3 is fun! Like that one a lot.

Check the full size version re the colour, the thumbnails are quite a bit off.

As for the pose, you have a point but with mum being 3 of 4 inches shorter than daughter I'm not sure if it would work. I'll remember that for next time, though and give it a try. I have no excuse for not noticing the shadow except for old age and decrepitude. I tend to get caught up in the facial expressions and miss things like that if I'm tired and still buzzing from a good shoot.
