Mount question.

I have a Canon XS EF mount, and I found a Sigma lens that says its SA/SD mount, but also states EF mount. Will this lens fit my camera?

That's a Sigma mount. Won't work. Has to be EF or say EOS

Do you know what abbreviation sigma uses to distinguish "EF" and "EF-S" mounts? I can never figure it out, a lot don't even mention it and I'm having to read tons of reviews on it

It will say Canon EF mount. EF is the mount. Sigma doesn't make up a new name for it. Now as for which will work full frame or crop only that's a little different and they are designated by the letters DC (digital compact) which is for APS-C sensors only.

Here's a tip: Get the "PROPER" rear lens cap for a lens whose mount is in doubt, and then put the rear cap on. If it fits PERFECTLY, then you have about a 97.5% chance that the mount of the lens is the same,exact mount as the rear cap. THIS IS HOW a guy sorts through pawn shop boxes full of weird, 3rd-party junker lenses...FAST!
