Mountain Waterfalls on the Monte Rosa Trail

Hi everyone,
Another couple of shots I took on my hiking holiday which I just edited in Lightroom. What do you think? Thanks

i quite like the first one. the texture of the rocks and the shade of green a very gorgeous. usually with waterfall shots I like some sort of reference (where they start where they end) but with the first one it looks like it could be huge, or small. i like it.

as for the second one, i think if you changed your composition so the waterfall started in the top left corner and allowed us to see the creek/pond running across the image. right now the waterfall is taking your eye right out of the image.

Thanks for the comments. Sadly the second one can't be altered but there will always be more opportunities to take waterfall shots

I like the first photo... The textures are amazing.... LOL at first I thought the 2 images were one.

First impressions: I would have shot the first one in portrait mode to give me more of the falls which I believe is your subject. I think all the rock on the left side is a bit of a distraction. My comments on the second one are similar. I would also agree wiith afoto that it would have been better to see the "plunge pool" at the bottom of the falls, rather than all that rock - the pool is, after all, a part of the falls. It is almost as if a part of the image has been cropped. Remember, one of the hallmarks of good composition is simplicity. Pick your subject and compose the image that bests shows it off.

Another question that I have is why the water in the first picture appears to have a slightly brownish tinge to it, whereas the water in the second picture does not? Just curious that's all.

Thanks for the critique! I think when I slightly changed the tint in light room it might have changed the colour of the water a little.

I have to agree with Western Guy. There's a lot of ado about too many distractive elements. A portrait crop on both might assist in bringing the falls more to the point of making the shot.
