This unprocessed pic is my "I can't believe I have to do this face" in the "Just for Fun" forum.

Yep, I missed the focus in the other shot, but it had a better DOF. What you are probably picking up on in the shot is the processing to remove my age spots and other skin imperfections. The white is not done in PS, but a strobe fired into a white backdrop. In this shot you can see a bit of fall off at the top left that I would have removed if I were to use this pic.

Here are some similar examples with gels placed over the strobe:

I have a lot of patience, but not enough to go into all those stray strands to put in colour.
