Judge says - we will use imdb for any questionable answers. official title is “Superman” although some sites do list it as Superman the Movie.

In the summer of 1983 or 84 we ran Superman, Superman II, and Superman III... the only triple feature I can remember in over 5 years of working at the movies. The last show ended after 3 a.m.

As far as the words " the movie" being appended to the title, I think that was to prevent confusion with the old TV series and the comic books. But of course this is just my opinion.
