Got an opportunity to shoot an OU football game this weekend. So I rented a 300mm f/2.8 II and went on my adventure. I was very fortunate that one of my friends that shoots for the AP was assigned there too. So I went and learned and shot and had a great time. Been really busy and haven't gotten all of the editing done yet but thought I'd share one image with you.

For you sports guys, yes this one is wide but I choose to do so on this. As I am going through the images, I am keeping in mind to get tight, medium and wide shots of the game.

Nice! I'm sure it's an optical illusion, but I love that the ref is looking for a holding call behind the play

I always wondered about that.
My d750 does full HD 1080p at 60/50/30/25/24p. can one get good still images from that?

Otherwise It'll have to wait until I possibly get a d500 which has 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 at 30/25/24p

I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking behind the play for a holding call. There was a kick return that Dede broke and was called back because of that. Not sure but it could have been on this play. (He did the same thing a couple of times.)

Only acceptable without any cropping. And then only marginally so. Don't get me wrong, it can be done, but it isn't as much of a given as 4k is. Give it a try, it works best in a staged and blocked scene that all angles and shots are pre mapped out.
