These are some shots from a series I call "Project One Mile"., to which I'm looking for stuff to shoot within a ONE mile radius from the house.

These are from the storm culvert of all places, but, I am learning more and more that "beauty" can be found in strange places.

Very nice, I like them. Banal is beautiful or can be - it doesn't have to be but it does work out that way sometimes, that's all I'm saying.

The last shot is my favourite, but I would like to see all the brickwork included.

While I wish there was more brickwork, it was all just flat, skimmed concrete. I think banality can be found in almost all aspects of most everything shot since digital cameras/cell phone cameras, and the fact that every instagramer fancies themselves a photographer. Very few "original" shots, or shooting scenarios to be found in these modern times.

I don't use the word banal with disdain or mean it as an insult. On the contrary, I like banality, or the ordinary, in photography and find that many people overlook this area. It's been around for a lot longer than digital also, and this is a name I discovered quite recently (thanks to TPF):

Edit: I see now that it's not bricks around the pipe after all. Still, a very interesting shot all the same.

Laynea24, While I like that you dig it, I am not sure if you sure if you are old enough to appreciate "IT". . .when I shot it, I got the the creeps, and all I could hear was "they all float down hear, Charlie". . . IT was one, and still is one of my fave S.King stories.

i REALLY I ope I didn't "ruin" the shot for you, but if you aren't familiar to the story, if you read it, you will understand why I feel the way I do.

Moving water gives us so many ways to express the mood of a place. You've captured them well. The first shot is especially interesting.

Thanks kindly. Like mentioned, it's simply a storm culvert. part of the project, "Project One Mile" is one that really makes you open your eyes to your immediate locale. if anything I hope it helps others take a look at the areas surrounding them, and inspires some shoots that would otherwise go unnoticed, or overlooked.

Take a walk, look around, you might find the same beauty in your own neck of the woods.
