My 1st B&W conversion

Hi, I am new to this forum and just got a DSLR. I was taking pics with a point and shoot. I love black and white, I took these for my mom she loves old barns. C & C:]

I like the framing of the barbed wire in the first one, but the image is mostly grey and therefore looks flat.

The foreground in other two is just to busy and cluttered and takes away from the focal point (the barn). Again it's mostly grey tones, I would prefer to see more pronounced blacks and some actual white in the image.

I think #2 is the best conversion of the three. But very busy with all the grass stalks sticking out. Recently I have been more serious about my black and white conversions. I use the black and white tool in photoshop. Not sure if you have photoshop since you said you only use a point and click.

Now looking at the pictures, you are correct. I like barb wire, too and it is too flat. The two are too busy. I need so much practice! How about this one

Good first shots...

Like the 1 and 2 more than 3... Top and bottom of frame may be a little crowded in #2 ... Like the wire framing in #1 but it seems a little too centered, might also dip down a tad to get the top of the tree under the wire... Love the tank on the right side in #1, I would play it up in a different composition.

Overall, not bad.

Took these with a point and shoot, but bought a DSLR recently. Yes, I do have Photoshop. My husband is in printing business. I appreciate each comment! I learn from them. Boy, do I need to learn and a lot more practice.
