My 1st Birthday Shoot

Good morning all. I am look for some constructive C&C on my first birthday shoot. Personally I feel there are a few things I dislike about each and maybe someone can fortify my feeling on them;
1. The little red piece to the left of the sign...yuck.
2. I feel like I left a bit too much room on the left which could easily be cropped out.
3. I don't like that I cut off the chicken but I like my DOF with it.
4. The background is a bit distracting but otherwise I like the composition.
5. I was too high and should be more on his level but I kind of like the lighting with it.

A little bit of punching up, sharpening the foregrounds and darkening the backgrounds and these will be very nice.

Thank you sir. I honestly feel like I didn't do too bad for my first time and with only a pop-up flash.

the backgrounds and stuff are pretty inevitable when you're shooting something like this I think. I think you did a great job overall here. have to say I was opening expecting a 1st birthday.. and then it was a 2nd. haha
