There was slight movement to the fill on the older one. I had moved it closer to on axis. The hair light was moved quite a bit behind, actually coming over the background. Because of that I had to move it back probably to far. In retrospect would have maybe been better on a boom.

. Editing the whites of eyes is dangerous territory - desaturating leaves them an eerie gray, and too much white looks unnatural.

This is the part that threw me. Not only was there a lot of red in the right eye, but his Mom picked up on the fact that they were both swollen (Asthmatic, allergies and contacts). I think I could have reversed my key and fill to opposite sides, putting the right eye in shadow, and hidden some of the red, but the swelling was in both. Normally he's very photogenic but this time his younger sibling was the better one.
