My cousin asked me to take some photos of her NB. Freaking out.

So my cousin is here visiting her parents and wants me to take a few pictures of her NB and family pictures.
i stupidly said yes.. Now I'm freaking out. I told her I'm no professional lol I'm not being paid. But some how I get this vibe she thinking I'm some great photographer.. When I'm really just starting out.
Plus the hole Thought of a newborn ek.. I haven't had to deal with a newborn since my son was born.. So this will be interesting. I'm really worried about poses and what will work out or if they will think I'm mad getting different shots.

I really wanted to take the pictures late in the afternoon. But I can only meet them at 2ish. Not the lighting I wanted. But anyway.. :/ I dunno why I'm so nervous. I did get the chance to take some photos of my nephew who is 1 yesterday out of 50 photos 5 where nice lol.

Is this paid? No? Is it practice? Yes. Just enjoy it! What's to stress about? Worst thing that happens is that you take a million and few to none are winners. BUT! You will learn, and practice never hurts!!

Search the forums, I remember a while ago a post on how to do this kinda thing.

Five out of fifty is a perfectly respectable keeper ratio. Do some searching on line for posing ideas and then just relax and go with it.

Just have fun with it. Stop putting undue pressure on yourself and enjoy taking photos of your family. You'll do fine, and if you're not happy with the results, learn from it. Good luck.

It was a nightmare... 1 didn't get to go to late. It's a dark house.. So I couldn't get enough light. Used the flash and it scared bub. My cousin didn't seem to flexible with positions for him either. Oh and he was awake the hole time. I think she thinks once his a sleep he needs to stay asleep In The bassinet. Argh! I can see why people don't like working with newborns.

But I'm going back tomorrow so I'm hoping to get a few decent pictures instead of none.

Try and get a large reflector. As you learned flash and baby doesn't mix. Try go when baby is fed and not awake long. A bright window is a friend also. Good luck

Thanks for the clip. Thanks all. I just guess it was a bad night. I love newborn pictures of bub sleeping.. And my cousin thinks he has to be awake. But yeh. Be good to have a sudio like that one. I just hope tomorrow is a much better day.

It your responsibility to tell your cousin how it should be done. You at least have an idea of what to do. Your cousin I assume hasn't the slightest clue. Be calm, confident, assertive, and tell your cousin where the bear sh!ts.

True lol. Yeh I just feel awkward because its her newborn and I didn't want to freak her out. I went back today got a couple of shots. But not they way I would of liked. But it's what she wanted so I guess that's what counts. Ill just have to keep you tubing until I get another chance with a NB.
