Took Cora out for some late afternoon photos yesterday. She was in a "diva" mood.

Pretty girl! Don't care for the processing personally, I think the head chopping is inexcusable in this shot... very distracting! Horizontal orientation can work, when there is something in the background that makes it worthwhile to shoot that way. Here all it gives you is contrasty dead space that pull the attention away from your daughter!

As a snapshot candid it is ok, but with a subject like that, maximize your possibilities! She is lovely!

I don't care for the processing, but it works for the photo with the glasses. You've cut off the top of her head for no reason. You have extra room at the bottom that is meaningless. Would have been better in portrait.

Very instagram. But I bet she loves that for her fb. she did a great job posing, very engaged in the shot. I don't mind the head cut off, sometimes I like pictures to look captured and not perfectly framed, I can understand in most instances this is unacceptable.

Some of the reading that I've done about portraits was that it's okay to cut the top of the head off but that you wanted to make sure to get the shoulders in them.

I like the shot, but I'm like the others and not a big fan of the post processing look.

IMO, cutting this much off has the captured-by-someone-with-no-clue look.
A picture can look spontaneous and candid without a craniectomy.

I agree with charlie on this one. The processing is very unnatural and over done. She looks yellow. I also agree that the horizontal crop does not work here. Beautiful girl! Love her look and her glasses! Reshoot this!
