By a cheap 49mm CPO and hold it in front of the lens. Stand side-on to the sun, point the camera at the sky in front of you, rotate the filter and watch the effect on the camera LCD.

Polarizing filter ?

All i have is a Canon sx210IS camera, looking into buying my first DSLR in a few months.
 
I like clouds. :D
 
I love the 3rd photo, it is pretty and the blue sky is striking against the clouds. I don't take great photos of clouds, I always have too much exposure and it turns into one big white blur.
 
They appear to be large sky-based formations of airborne water vapour
 
If you ever need to replace a monotone, uniformly gray, overcast sky in a photo, having a nice library of cloud images comes in very handy.

I don't think that is why the OP was shooting clouds, but.......
 
Why were these done in portrait orientation? thats whats bothering me most about these pics....
