My first attempt using steel wool

May be I am thinking too much. Those sparks don't burn off completely or do they? Now imagine walking bare footed on the beach with metal bits....

No, I don't think you have to worry about barefoot walks on the beach. All that is left is basically a bunch of round "pebbles" of steel - most no bigger than a grain of sand. Also, I was knee deep in the ocean at the time so everything fell in the water. As I mentioned earlier, I'm still new to this technique. But I don't think you would want to try it near anything flammable. I also brought a small fire extinguisher, just in case.
