For most of these shots I used my 18-55 lens, for the plants I used the 35mm 1.8G lens (low light conditions). I just got this camera 3 days ago and these are my first "acceptable in my mind" pics. I'm starting from a point of absolute clueless-ness - So bad in fact that I spent yesterday trying to take sunset pics and did not even get one decent shot to show for it.....froze my butt off too in the cold

Enjoy these pics of my porch plants (taken outdoors, low light) and my junk food(s) (indoor lighting) - Sweet, Thai Tamarind Chews and PIK-NIK Snacks. The Fishys were taken with a 35mm. I played around w/ the settings to get more DOF and get the center image crisper. Oh and while you're critique-ing - is the D5100 that much better??

Not a bad start. I would watch the composition, especially on the last shot of fries and the first fish.

It's best to post just just a few (1 to 3) of your pictures. You will get more feedback. Most people are not going to want to post feedback on a dozen photos in one thread. You also want to number your pictures. If people were to start posting, your photos are not numbered so everyone's feedback will start to get jumbled, no one will know which feedback was for which photo.
