My First dSLR Shots! :)

Hey everyone!

So about 3 weeks ago, I bought my first dSLR. Canon Digital Rebel 300d with the 18-55mm kit lens. It's a nice little camera, especially for a first and the price I paid for it. So I've just been going camera crazy the last couple weeks. Taking pictures of my friends, just taking pictures just to take em, and doin' a little bit of Light Painting. Well, i figured it was about time to post a couple now that I'm kinda comfortable enough behind this camera to take your criticism and know what to do with is...I'd love some C&C on these if you'd indulge me

A basic tenent of visual composition - Light advances, dark receeds.

Put another way, foreground elements have more visual weight, if they are brighter than what is behind them.

Yeah, that's something I've been struggling to get under control. One of my friends sat me down and gave me like a 2 hour lesson on using aperture, ISO, and shutter speed to correctly develop a shot. I was having a lot of issues w/ that, as you can see by most of those pictures...but Thank you for saying that...That idea will stay in my head, and hopefully help me out...
