My first DSLR

I've been shooting for a few years, all point and shoot, (Fujifilm S5000 ish ones) and finally got a DSLR. A Nikon D5000, i'll work up from there later. I haven't been able to learn much editing yet, so any help is a true blessing.

I well remember the day I stepped up from a P&S to a DSLR. What a world of difference........ like when Dorothy stepped into the Land of Oz.

#1 is just too busy, the leaves in the foreground blend into the background too much. Not sure you fix that in pp without some extensive work, someone here maybe can but then what's the point? Maybe there is something else you were going for here, but I can't see it. But then again, I am new too and don't have much room to talk. I guess you could call me a pot and you a black kettle.
