I am in the process of designing my first engagement album. I wanted to get some feedback on what I am doing here. She wants to have the album double as a guest book. She wants black pages and to have them sign with something like a sliver pen. Instead of just having the image stop at the crease, I did a gradient to have it fade into the next page. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I think it would be nicer to have two seperate distinct boxes or a torn edge or something to define it. Even left side picture right side sign in. To me this just looks like it was cut off abruptly. Just my opinion though.

So you think it would look better like this?

I think as a sign book, the 2nd one is better.
good Luck

Im not sure what i would suggest but the first one reminds me of people walking in front of my camera:grumpy: lol

if i were to buy something like that. i think i would like it better if the right page was completely black, but the edge of the left faded to black about 1/4 inch in, like in the space you would normally put a large border, if that makes sense.

kind of the opposite of what you did with the first one, but fade the black into the picture page, instead of vice versa.

I see what TrueJoy is saying, however I think you'll loose too much of the image if you fade the black into the picture more. Try having the gradient start more in the left top and go to the right bottom, pretty much reveres of how it is now. I like the gradient, and #1 much better than #2.

I like #1. BUT, make sure you test out the silver pen on photo paper first. Some dont stick very well. Write something and try to smudge it a few seconds later.

Maybe more like a silver sharpie or something of that nature. And the guestbook will be signed "yearbook" style, like in high school. No lines, just signing where you please. Here is another example of the gradient style.

And I promise the colors look much better at home! Photobucket dropped the ball on this one.

would still bring the fade closer to the binding line, but just me...would give more room for signing. also on other pages you could mix it up a bit by putting two or three smaller camio type photoes in different spots on the page, could even fade the borders of said pics into the background, some programs can do that from a focal point out in a circle or square.....hope i make sense.

Ya sorry I still don't care for the first one or the gradient. I prefer the second over the first, again I think that the picture was cut off abruptly or some kind of problem. I prefer something neat and tidy looking. But hey whatever she likes is the most important thing. You should just ask your bride.
