My first ever photo on a SLR

I got my D90 on monday and took this picture this morning. I know i have so much to learn is it ok for a first a attempt?

Yeah, not bad at all... I like the colors and silhouette.

I'd probably crop out the dull upper sky and some of the black space at the bottom and make it look like a pano though.

As you know im new to this i know what you mean crop but do i need a programe to do that?

Did your camera come with the software?

If not (or even if it did), Google actually has a pretty decent basic editor called Picasa.
Picasa 3: Free download from Google

Pretty fun tool, and you can get add-ons for it (free) to upload to SmugMug, Flickr, Facebook, etc.
