What's new

My first people shoot in awhile C&C

Very lovely shots. Personally I think the #3 is better for composition and lighting.
Really? I thought that was one of my weaker shots. I actually got my flash out that time and decided to experiment. I see what the guys mean though. Looking at them now I do feel a sense of being lost and hopeless. Unfortunately I was trying to get the sense of adventure and the feeling of having such a big world to discover.
As for you derrel apparently there was a clown. He was just behind the camera.
How come you guys hate selective coloring so much?

If I was shooting this I would:
1. shoot againts the sun and get sun flare and warm light leak
2. add movement
3. shallower DOF
4. add props: insect net, kite, blow bubbles, or something

The way you processed it:
1. Either too much contrast or too much black
2. The grass is greener than astro turf
3. Too tight on most of it
4. Too much DOF

I was just giving you a hard time. You cant believe how much these guys gave me a hard time on my posts especially the early ones. Part of being on TPF.

"Part of being on TPF"??? NO, that's not what it was about.....so sorry buddy, but THAT is not what it was about!!!!

You know what I think I might try that this weekend. Definately the bubbles these girls are too young for kites. Thank you for that. This would have been an awesome shoot with my wife around she is awesome with kids. Its too bad she was working I think I'll schedule a reshoot this weekend.

Sounds like a good plan. Even if you aren't getting paid, you do want them done right.

See this is where i am the weakest at with my photography skills. I have a very technical uncreative mind. I never even thought about props and letting them have fun. It good to have you guys on my back booting my a$$ around.

Although I'm not an expert, I think shallow DOF would help. As far as photographing children, I'd like to have them smile a bit more than adults. You bring a few fun things, let them be kids, and work with that.

I like #3 best as far as composition and coloring. It's a bit too dark for children photography IMHO.

If they are for showing off the tutu's they would have been better shot in a studio

number one has the full person in it
Yes, but you cut off the "product".

They lighting is also blah. I don't know, personally I would reshoot for her.

Can you please elaborate as in blah? .

sorry, I know blah is not a technical term but I can't think of a better word right now
.

Not to put words in your mouth shortpants, but Kbarredo think of it this way. blah = boring, flat, unexciting, unflattering, poor, lackluster, etc.

This is not an excuse this is actually not my fault. the bridge is actually a railroad track and her mother told me to take pics on this exact spot.
.... and this is not an excuse because...... ?

I know but I don't have studio lights just cheap canadian tire ones. I'm getting my studio flash kit tomorrow though. Can't wait to try it out.

I don't see anything wrong with location shooting.

This is crazy talk to me. How can you be a photographer if you're not creative? Honest question.

Only in a Kbarredo thread that gets TPF this fired up, what a way to start a Friday eh?

Anyways your photos are super saturated. We don't even see their face or see them smile! There's only one shot with the kid looking at the camera. If you can't get them to look at the camera, they are kids and they should be doing something fun and you should snap some of those shots.

How long have you been shooting? Do you feel like you're improving? Do you see what's wrong with the photos before you post them? or when someone point out the problems with the photo and you notice it right away? Seems like when someone points out a problem, you use an excuse to cover for it instead of "Oh dang I didn't' see it before but thanks for pointing out my mistake so I correct them next time." I know everybody learn at their own pace, but you really started off in the wrong foot on this forum and that's the reason why I think many are a bit harsher on you. GL and keep shooting!

Mug shots, crime scene photography, astrophotography (not sure of correct term), bacteria/microscope photography, satellite, google maps. The careers are endless.
