First is a beautiful shot, I see little blur around old man, not sure if its due to focus or camera shake though.

About 2nd I am not sure what you want to convey from the pic, also its little grainy

Yes, you were very gentle. Thank you. The first is blurry, because the shutter stuck open, so yes, camera shake. The second is an extreme crop of a much larger picture. It also has a matte finish that was accentuated in the scanning process. I like the birds better myself. In the second photo, I was struck by the cold blue like reflection of the steel surroundings. Maybe I found this picture so bold because in Iowa, we don't have toll roads. The picture symbolizes the strange system of tolls on a publicly funded roadway. The steel reflects the cold logic of paying to build the road, then paying to use it. Of course, I could be insane. Thank you for looking.

first one isnt too bad, 2nd one doesnt do anything for me at all. both seem a little grainy but it might just be the scanner. what set up are you shooting?

camera- Olympus OM 10 Kodak 400 film. Both photos have a matte finish that led to the grain.

hmmm these are very out of focus, but the concept of the first one is great.

the 2nd one to me looks like you didnt mean to take it though

I really like the concept of the first one, but the camera shake bothers me too much...

forceOfNature nailed it. First one is a good idea and good moment, but not very good technically for a couple of reasons. The second pic is just not a very good photo as it is blurry and not well composed or at least uncropped and showing the back of the drivers seat and window frame and seatbelt. Also there's a lot of noise (dust) on your scans. You might want to touch them up in PS or maybe just clean your scanner. Do you have access to a film scanner? You'll get a lot better results than using a flatbed and scanning prints..
