For all three of these, I used Aperture Priority (I was shooting for a photo challenge, Wide Open, for another forum). I shot at between 10:45a-11:30a. There was minor PP in LR4.

1.)
50mm, f/1.8, 1/4000s, ISO 1000

Thanks, in advance!

Its crazy, I have almost the exact same shot of number 3! Very nice

I like them. Favourites are 1 and 3. The first I would like to see more differences between main focus flower and bg. The last I think would be better all in focus. :)

I like #2............#1 is a bit too busy for me...................#3 is also nice.............I would select and de-saturate and blur the background a bit to draw more attention to the main bloom like this

Can't tell on my little screen but why iso1000?

I was using Aperture Priority, as I was shooting these for a photo challenge using the largest aperture. I normally shoot in manual, but for that photo challenge, I did not.

Okay, but that doesn't explain your usage of ISO1000.

You're shooting wide open, early afternoon, with 1/4000s shutter speed at ISO1000. That shot data makes absolutely no sense at all. I am pretty sure you left your ISO on 1000 from another shoot because aperture priority shouldn't be changing it like that for you. I suggest you reshoot them on ISO100 for better color detail, and sharpness. I'd also stop down to f/2.2.

Whoops! Yet another of my many rookie mistakes. :meh:

Today is very overcast and cool, compared to yesterday's sunny warmth. That alone will impact the photos, but the comparison may be nice. I'll reshoot at ISO100 and try a few different apertures.

Thanks, Tyler.

I just went back outside to reshoot, and discovered that the rain, wind and cooler temps have knocked all my irises over. Heartbreaking. It is like a massacre happened out there. I got a couple of shots at a ISO100, and went from f/1.8 to f/4.0. They're very boring, compositionally. I'll PP & post later on.

We do have a couple of irises inside; hopefully, tomorrow evening when I get home, I'll still have enough light to take the vase outside and shoot them. They're all beautiful and open and vibrant.
