Thats a cool fan.Talk about no safety back in the day.You can stick your whole arm in the blade if you wanted to.I don't know anybody that would but just saying. My dad had a fan like that, when I was a little I use to stick the broom handle it. Yeah! I was a problem child.

Love the phone. I've got a beige one that isn't currently hooked up but still works. I also have a black candlestick phone that is connected and in use. When I get home I'll post some pictures, as well as pictures of my 1930s Underwood typewriter, my old black construction worker's lunch box (which I do use every day), and the Thermos that my dad used to bring to work every day in the 60s and 70s. I love vintage stuff This should not be a surprise, given my photographic gear preferences, I suppose. Hey, at least I'm consistent!

I remember those, and the "named" numbers - I think we were LUdlow or something.
I had a keypunch machine stashed away, but I wasn't allowed to bring it home when I retired. For the younger set, they were used to put the little rectangular holes in old-old school computer punch cards.

Ohmygod that was soo much work, had to rotate the dial round and round and round... whew! life was hard when we were kids LOL.

I don't remember the 2 letter exchanges but my aunt and uncle had a party line on their phone. It would ring and they wouldn't answer because it wasn't 'their' ringtone, everybody on the line had a different signal. Life on the farm... they also had well water.

But your finger got a free ride back! You can also dial with the switch hook.

I had one of those into the mid 90's. Wasn't 'til a gal I was dating asked to use the phone, she picked up the receiver and started pushing the numbers that's when I realized perhaps it was a little outdated.

I'm really not as old as that makes it sound, however. Just old-fashioned tastes!

Edited: The pocketwatch and Land Camera were my father's. The key chain came from a junk shop in Istanbul, and everything else comes from various junk shops in the Northeast. Some might call them 'antique shops' but for me, that means that the stuff is all cleaned up and overpriced. I like the junk shops better

Thanks The candlestick really is in great condition, and it works perfectly. I was so excited when I found it and also realized I could afford it, which means it can't have cost very much. I've had it for a few years so I can't remember exactly, but it was probably a maximum of $50, probably less. The beige phone I believe was $35 as was the Underwood. Everything else was cheaper.

I like the things that are functional because I want to actually use them.
