Hello everyone,
I just took this picture of my daughter I like the candid shot of her.
I did a blur to get the soft effect but I feel it needs something else. I was wondering if you guys out there could give me input.

Personally, I think the overall color is a little on the dull side. Did you try to alter the brightness at all or maybe changing it to black and white?

Your daughter is very cute though!

I'm not sure I like the blur/soft effect...Not for the whole image anyway. I'd like to see the eyes sharp at least. Also, it could use a little more contrast, IMO. She is very cute though .

I changed the contrast turned to black and white. I'll work on the blur

I prefer the black and white. I agree with Mike though, the blur is distracting.

I like the B&W but the contrast seems a bit too harsh. Mainly her nose and the right side of her face.

I see many photos of kids with the soft focus and I am trying to get the same effect, any ideas on how that is done.

As for more contrast I tried to adjust the contrast in PS and I did not like the reulst too harsh. Is there a specific area to correct on the face?

Dupe your image to a new layer. Gaussian blur that new layer, but not by loads. Change opacity of new, blurred layer to around 30%-40%.
