My (Mostly Rail) Gallery

My first thought was, "Why bother putting a derail on an open-ended spur?" Image wise, I'd like to see a bit more in the sky. If the locomotive was stationary, consider a CPOL and maybe a 2-3 image HDR? The use of the rail as a leading line is excellent!

It's actually supposed to be installed to the right eventually, but it's sat for about two years at this point.
I agree about the sky. This was my first time with this angle, and was more experimentation. The train was moving, so HDR was out. I've tried a CPOL a few times, but the issue with them is that I get REALLY BAD lens flare off the headlights. Any way to get rid of it?
Thanks for the advice, as always, I'm always ready to learn more!

Two Engine Pan by jdhoehler, on Flickr

My very first attempt at panning!
i actually really like that. Its trippy..

Thank you...I love how only a small part of the engine is in focus. I have some more shots which will get up eventually, I am REALLY backlogged in Lightroom :)

What kind (brand) of CPOL is it?
It's this HOYA:
Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizer Filter B52CRPL
I have the same problem with my UVs, also Hoya. I use the lens hood at all times, it's only with filters that I have the issue too.

You might want to spend the extra $$ and get a better CPOL; B+W, Lee, or Singh-Ray.
I was afraid you were going to say that. I just ran out of that stuff with the new tripod and bag.:lol::lol: Eventually I'll have to get the upgraded filter, but that won't be for a while. The lighting there isn't the best either, though.

Thank you for the advice!
