I've created a few specific threads in the past, but finally decided that it would probably be easier to just create one and keep updating it. I'll update this as I get more and more shots, and will try to stay as organized as possible. If you like my work, please subscribe, and any criticism is accepted. Without any further wait, here we go.

(Any thoughts on preference?)

A question:
Am I a chronic underexposer? It seems my photos are usually on the darker side, but that is just my style. I only ask because a rail photography magazine brought it to my attention.

Nice; I especially like #4, but I think it could stand to be brightened; not a lot, but a tad to be sure. Are you working on a calibrated monitor?

They do seem underexposed to me except for 2a &2b. I prefer 2a, BTW because I like the (far) front being in focus more than the foreground.

4 is really nice! BTW, maybe just a touch of corrections

Thank you all. And photo 4 was the one that was questioned as underexposed. Rick58, what corrections did you make specifically? It looks good. Oh, and by the way I do not use a calibrated monitor.

Thanks. Does the horizon in 4 look crooked? The tracks ARE banked by the way.

I just raised the overall brightness, brought up the highlights just a little, and kept the shadows where they were. Sharpened a little. That's about it. You were really close.

I don't have a calibrated either. Just a cheap-o Dell that every once in a while I'll have it reset it's self to factory settings

No thoughts on the last photo?
Okay, a few more then I guess. Again, any advice/thoughts/criticism is appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hey guys, any advice? Even on why I'm not getting any replies? :-)

I'm afraid you're going to find it's a pretty tough crowd around here for C&C when it comes to documentary or record shots. It appears when it comes to internet photo forums, there's not much room for us straight photography shooters. Anyway, I like the angle and your locations choices. They're a little flat, especially in the sky. I played around with the first a little...

This was a combination of brightness, contrast and temp adjustments. Your other shot would be mainly getting a little more color in the sky.

Good shooting and look forward to seeing more.
Edit: I'm not sure how I missed this one..

A little dark and flat, but cool shot

Thank you Rick58. I'm actually trying to not be too documentary-type shots and more towards the artistic side.
Let me ask this (to anyone), are the shots visually appealing?

THANKS!

To a railfan but probably not to others. They are too interest specific. It would be the equivalent to a photo of a vintage car.

That makes sense... Thank you.
