Born on 1/11/13 Maxim Alexander gave his daddy something new to photograph

So I posted up earlier a few test photos with my new lights. I will first off say, I have never shot a human before in a controlled environment.
Bought some cheap lights off of amazon (cowboy studio 3 softbox kit) and then I bought some black felt from a local walmart.

After setting them up and attempting to get the light just right (or atleast the best I could do without a light meter) these are the photos I came up with.

Again, I am no professional, just trying something different and if I like it I may take it a little more serious, getting some different color backdrops some floor drops and new props. I have a bunch of family and friends with new children..

First photo was laying on his side, my wife was holding him still. I used my 50mm 1.4G lens for this shot.

This next photo is also my 50mm (strange enough, I did not really enjoy my 24-70mm as much as my prime)

This final photo is a little softer than the previous two. I wanted it to feel a little more heavenly if thats possible.

I love the first one and last one! Really cute shots! Not crazy about the other two with the wild hat and blanket. I love the simplicity which doesn't distract from the adorable subject of the first and last one!

They are all a little under exposed... typical for continous lights.... you can see some blur in his hands and eyes in some, due to the necessary long exposure with those CFL lights.

Cute baby though..... looks a little yellow also. And has that baby skin stuff going on..... I thought I would do an edit, see if you liked it.... hope you don't mind! I did soften it a bit, and adjusted skin tone a touch.

Thank you! The first and last were shot only on a white snow suit of his lol. The other animal print was my wifes robe and a hat we bought online!

LoL. She is totally into props and such. She wants to get him baby suspenders and hats and crowns etc etc. I think she wanted to play dress up if we had a little girl so now she makes me do it to our little boy ha ha
