My next lens

I am a hobbyist photographer who mostly takes pictures of tennis matches and indoor volleyball. I would like to get more experience with natural light portrait photography, but the aforementioned sports will always be the primary focuses.

I currently have a Sony SLT-A77 with the Sony Sony SAL70200G 70-200mm f/2.8 SSM lens. I'm ready to buy another lens to add to my kit, but I'm not sure where to go from here. My budget is under $800. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Do you want wider lenses? Longer Lenses?

With your A77 APS-C crop factor you have a 35mm equivalent of a 105-300mm lens. For wider I would look at the Tamron 28-75 mm f2.8 (full frame) lens or the 17-50 mm f2.8 (APS-C) lens. Either should be available used.
