My quest for sharp pictures

My camera and lens is in my signature

Signatures are not shown on many forum apps used by phones and tablets.

But you need a tripod for fine tuning it right?

I think the Tripod will be very important but if you have no other choice you can just hold it.
Maybe find a table to put the camera on and use 2 sec delay to take the picture.

Congrats you got it but The 7K I had made No different, it looked like it got worse trying to fine tune. My local area camera shop gave it a go and seemed to them as the feature didn't not work at all. I sent it to nikon it came back somewhat better but not good enough.I sold it, now either going for the D600 or the D7100. Meantime not a issue at all with my little D3100.

I was thinking about the D600, its using exact same AF system as the D7000 so maybe you might find it as problematic as the D7000.
The D7100 has the D300s AF system so maybe that's a more reliable system.

I've done the same thing with my D7000 and all my lenses. The only one that didn't need adjustment was my 50mm AF-D. It was spot on at -0-.

I must admit I have problem with both cameras.
If I was to upgrade then the AF on the D600 would be an issue for me and the D7100 as good of a camera as it really is is not FX body and I set my mind I want an FX camera for my next purchase.
I admit I was toying with the thought to cross the lines to Canon and go for the 6D in case the fine tuning will not work.
I really am happy I got this (at last) sorted out, I like Nikon better and glad I can stay where I like to be.
I will probably upgrade when the D600 replacement will come out probably in 1 1/2-2 years from now.
