Cool-looking little bird. I like the first shot the most.

great images, each one has some great attributes to it, I like the face/open beak in #1, I like the pose and contrast with the background in #2, and I like the colors in #3 (maybe its just where I'm at tonight, but the colors look better in #3 than the others)...tough to choose a favorite, but probably #1

Nice set. I like the third one best as the entire bird is in focus.

Great shots, Matthew! We have a lot of them over here as well and they are really cute little birds.

Your post gave me an idea for a Photo Theme that I started in the "Themes" area entitled State Birds.

My grandfather was a Carolina Wrenn.

thanks, yeah he was moving around a lot. I used my blind, not that I really had to, really I was hoping for something else to come along, but we all know how that usually goes. im still happy to get this guy.

Great shots! Great color and light.

Awesome work around the light, amazing aw balance, great clarity and i was wondering if it was a point and shoot ya a zoom that you did.
Minute details of the bird are clearly visible and the background blur is working wonders as well.
Is nature photography your zone.
And i would also love to know what camera was this and the lens you used for the same and if any filters.

Sorry if i am asking too much.
I'd love to try my hands on such as well.

Cause working with animals can get dangerous as well.
take a look :
"ONE VALUABLE LESSON EVERY PHOTOGRAPHER CAN LEARN FROM THIS VIDEO" Great video

I wish I could do it with a point and shoot... would be a lot quicker setup and don't have to lug around a huge 30lb backpack. but im sure you could get similar websized results from a micro 4/3 or decent bridge camera in a blind, but these would look good if printed large as well, where I don't think the cheaper setup would beable to retain as much detail at larger resolutions. before downsizing I think these above photos were still 5000 pix wide and sharp at 100%

they were shot with a 500mm f4 vr lens and a Nikon d800 with a sb600 on a flash bracket at 1/8 - 1/16th power, cannot remember. on a tripod sitting on a log in a swamp under a kwik camo blind.
