What's new

n00b Question.

When working with the lower ISO's then, what would be a good shutter speed to set? I was normally running w/ a auto-ISO or a 800 ish and than a lower/shutter when trying to shoot night time.
But always having to adjust the 2 to get the settings right??

There is no general setting for ISO, shutter speed, or aperture. It's more of a juggling act. You typically adjust the shutter speed or aperture to control how much light gets to the sensor, you would usually only increase ISO if you can't or don't want to change the other two.

Aperture controls the depth of field - the larger the aperture, the blurrier the background.
Shutter speed controls the speed of the shutter - the longer the shutter speed, the more subject and camera movement, the blurrier the entire picture.
ISO controls the amplification of the signal - the higher the ISO, the more amplification of the light signals, the worse the dynamic range, color sensitivity and the noise.
