Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
OK so the word is finally out! It is my wife's birthday today, and, for a gift I am securing Pit and Paddock/Infeild, all access passes to the Nextel/Busch series SBC 250 race in Milwaukee, WI for the 25th of June. She is a HUGE nascar fan and I know it will be greatly appreciated. We both know this is also a HUGE photo op for either of us. She dabbles a bit in photo but not much since high-school photo 101. Basically I am looking for any advice on what to look for, what to shoot, or what to ask for (from anyone willing to co-operate with us on race day). I have a REALLY good idea of what I want but am looking to cover the bases on the things I may not have thought about.

Well, if you are looking for ideas of what to shoot, I'll pass on a list of things I'd like to see ya post when you get back. :D

Panning shots of cars in the turns.
Crew working on the car on pit road.
Atleast one of the view down pit road.(with and/or without the cars)
A good burn out.
If you are lucky enough, a wreck.

Be ready at all times!! The cars and action are quick and unpredictable. The colours are very bright(on the cars) and a lot of fluorescent and supersaturated paint jobs to capture.

I took in an IRL race in Brooklyn MI last summer. I was still very new to photography and with my new camera was not happy with many pics. Many pics were taken with to fast of a shutter and did not get good motion shots.(I wish I had pit passes)

If all works out, we will go again this year, better prepared for pics.

I for one, am looking forward to seeing your shots. Best of luck with the cameras and enjoy the race.

Actually believe it or not but most of this stuff will fit in only two backpack bags! Some stuff will live in the truck half the day and we will just switch things out occassionally.

Can't wait to get there. Mainly I'm looking for some pre-advice on shutter speeds for the pans. Daytime I am guessing at full race speed 1/250 should be more than enough and nightime won't be a problem at all because subdued lighting will most definately keep me under that (just a guess though since I haven't shot this type of speed before).

I will definately post up some results either way when we get back ;)
