Natural Texture

I have tried to capture this texture on several occasssions. I think I have it figured out now. By intentionally under exposing, the texture shows quite well. This subject metered @ shutter speed 10, F/stop 4.5. It was shot @ 80/4.5.

The subject is a car hood. The 'arrow' with holes is where the hood ornament was mounted. I am not sure how the 'texture' came to be ?

But this one must be a very old car hood then!?
You would expect a somewhat shinier varnish on new cars.... well, I would .

when i saw this, i first thought it was an arrow pointing somewhere on a marble wall or something of the sort, never would i have thought of a car hood....i like it .
