Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
So I'm wondering if someone here knows how to solve this. My photoshop skills are extremely limited so far. However, I think this should be fairly simple if I just knew how.

In addition to photography I also play around with woodworking. I build some somewhat simple instruments when I'm out shooting local bands.

I want to make some tongue drums. I have some design ideas and I'm ready to start building some things and experimenting. The one thing I haven't yet been able to figure out is where to start with the tongues/keys themselves.

So I found a picture of a drum whose sound I like. I don't want to copy this guys style or work or anything like that. But I would like to find out the length of the longest and shortest tongues on this to at least give me a starting point where I can begin my own research and design.

So here's a high quality image. Bass Giant Tongue Drum
I know the drum itself is 23 inches long and 10 inches wide. Isn't there a way using photoshop or another graphics program to then be able to determine the actual length of the longest and shortest tongues on this?

Just curious.

Thanks all!

That's exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you. And now that you've mentioned how you did it, I've found some stuff on pixel dimensions and I'm reading on up that. Hooray for learning new photoshop stuffs!

Thanks again.

Hey Bingo!

Kudos for using the appropriate forum.

In Photoshop you can click on View > Rulers and rulers will appear on the top and left side of the workspace.

Plus there is a Ruler tool that can be used to measure in the units the rulers are set to. The trick there is knowing the magnification factor of the camera/lens combination used to make the photo you want to measure.

Just put a ruler on the screen LOL

If you print this out at size as you should be able to measure it accurately.
