need advice on external flash!

I'm on a really tight budget but I need an external flash for my d60, something to help indoors and in low-light settings outdoors. Any ideas? Would a softbox diffuser help?

Maybe. But that's going to eat into your already low budget.

I was reading reviews on it and it sounds great, except that the shoe mount is pretty weak. Most people use it for off camera light and I want on camera. Any other suggestions?
