NEED HELP FAST!!!

I have a 28-200 that I don't use very much, but it is Minolta mount.

This is not entirely correct.

Third party lenses will work on your CURRENT cameras. There's no guarantee they will work on your next Canon body.

So there are numerous old sigma/tamron lenses floating around which don't work on new elans or digital bodies. Sigma will re-chip them for free, IF THEY HAVE THE CHIP. And they no longer re-chip a LOT of lenses.

It's a gamble. I'd stick with canon if I had the funds.

I called KEH and was going to order the Sigma APO lens...but the guy I spoke with gave me this same info. He said that a lot of times it shows an error on the DSLR's and possibly even my elan 7ne wouldn't work with it as well...he said the best bet would be to go with the Tamron version similiar to this, b/c it would work much better and they've had more success. I asked about the Canon lenses that they had, but he still thought Tamron was the way to go for the features I wanted...so it's ordered now and on it's way...should be here by Thursday

Congrats, on the new lens. Glad you took the time to do the leg work on it, no sense buying a lens and 3 months later regretting the purchase.
