Need help with a tripod

Hey all!
Once again I'm tapping into the photo forum's large knowledge base. I need help with a tripod. The problem is the middle grade tripod I have wont support my D200 with my nikkor 18-55 f/2.8 in the verticle access. Anone else have this problem? If so what tripods out there can help me out? Thanks in advance you guys rock!

I have a Giottos VT 809 and can take vertical images..
And its quite cheap too, around 50$ i guess
