I'm looking at maybe buying a couple of softboxes from B&H to add to my modest lighting kits which include umbrellas, light stands, etc.

This is one version I am considering:

Lastolite Hot Shoe EZYBOX Softbox Kit-30 x 30" LL LS2480M2

I have never used a speed ring before, but it appears that this version has a built-in speed ring. It that correct? They also list a Ezybox Quadra Speedring Adapter as an accessory so I'm not sure that's required or optional.

I just need help to determine what I will need to use this softbox with the gear I currently own. Do I need a separate speed ring? What else do I need to use this kit?

I plan to use it with my SB-700 and 2 YN 560s speedlights.

Thanks!

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! $224??? $164 for a 30x30 inch softbox...cough,...cough...

How about this one, with ring and mounting hardware, for $61?????????? Notice how this e-Bay vendor has taken the extra step of having some DECENT PROUCT PHOTOS, to show what his PRODUCT actually LOOKS LIKE and COMES WITH?

32" 80cm Flash Softbox Soft Box For Nikon Flash speedlite SB800 SB700 SB600 | eBay

These are shipped from Hong Kong and take up to 3 weeks to arrive.

Yeah....they are also three to four times less money...look around e-Bay for ANOTHER VENDOR, located in say, League City, Texas, who will have them there in 7 days...

This one is easier and cheaper: Westcott Apollo JS Softbox with Recessed Front for Flash 2348
Check out the guys from Lighten up and shoot. They use speedlights. They have a list of their gear and links to buy it.

Thanks for this.

One complaint was that they are hard to angle downward. Ever had that problem?

Like for a hair light? Not really. For the hair light I have the smaller 28" version with a grid, high on a light stand behind and at an angle then pointed at their heads. I think it works just as well as a strip box hanging from the ceiling.

Sweet jeep; I have a 2012 Crush JKU.

Anyways, check out Photoflex. IIRC, they have a 3 year warranty on their stuff. I bought a strip box and absolutely love it. The whole thing is really easy to fit together and works with the rods through the fabric like a text so that you don't have to totally disassemble it.
