Need new film camera.

I desperately need to upgrade from my ancient Argus Stl 1000. What's a good film camera that doesn't cost a fortune?
Right now I'm thinking of getting the Canon Rebel 2000. Do you know if that one's any good?

What is your budget? What will you be shooting and where? If you are beyond the family snapshot stage, have you considered medium format?

One size fits all may work but it's seldom comfortable.
