Need recommendation

Hello I am college student and I had Olympus E-500 Evolt SLR camera before but i do not have it anymore. I am looking for SLR camera with fastest shutter speeds and auto focus if it is possible for sports action and others as well. My budget range is less than $1,000. My grandma have Canon 7D SLR camera and I am very impressed with her camera however I couldn't afford it like her camera. I can't think of anything right now i need to say. If you like Canon then I'd suggest that you look the t3i. It is in your price range and has the features you request.

40d it has 6.5fps and you can get a used one for around $550 or a used 50d for $700 with 6.3fps but neither have video if your interested in that
