Need some help editing a photo

Hello,
I've never asked this before but I am sort of stumped. I've already edited this photo somewhat but the customer would like the background (chairs) less visable or blurred. Everytime I try to edit further it seems to look too edited. Would someone like to help me? Thanks in advance!

The cat's eyes are in the middle of the picture (vertically). I might try putting one of the eyes on a 'rule of thirds' hot spot to make the cat stare more powerful.
