need your help about Sphere

Recently I noticed few photographer create something that I would like to learn their techniques.
I am sure that you have seen few images of a city in a sphere or globe. I know that it is done by the PS, but not sure how I do it.
I would like to know if you know how to do it? If so would you please go thru step by step.

Too many ways:
1.filter > Distort > Polar coordinates > rectangular to polar.
2.Filter> Distort > Filter > Distort > Lens Correction.
3. Buy a "Fisheye lens" for your camera.

FYI - One can also purchase chrome spheres at garden shops and shoot them. This results in no pixel degradation and is commonly used to create 'light plots' for HDR and CGI related use.
