(edit) O.K., I realize you didn't ask for C&C, nor our reasons for our picks, but I think it might help you to understand why I chose the ones I did.

#2 would have been my first pick, but you've got the frame all wrong. Why not frame it in portrait, and capture his entire face? It lost points for that.

#6 has human interest, and there is a rational reason to frame in landscape
#7 has human interest, and there is a rational reason to frame in landscape
#9 fairly good image, but for once there is a rational reason to frame in landscape.

Go ahead and turn your camera on its side once in a while, it won't break.
