New - C&C from first shoot.

This is from my first shoot with my Nikon D3100. I am brand new to photography.

Exposure looks good.
You are shooting in Auto/Program exposure ?

The subjects are kinda weak ... What attracted you to take this shot ?

Thanks, yes, and it is just one of my favorite places to be so I figured I would get a photo of it.

You should try to capture the mental image into the shot ... we cannot mentally see the image that you see.
Being able to capture that, is a sign of a great photographer.

A bit of the clouds are blown out,
I'd maybe bump up the saturation in the trees,

Sky is a bit overexpose. The angle is not very interesting either. Try to angle the wooden pier in a different way, it'll be better. Right now it's a bit center, and when someone is center, all the focus goes there, and in the photo really nothing really interesting to look at. Anyways good job, keep trying to angle more shots when you shoot, it'll amaze you how a step here and there will make the photo much better.
