New For Old Items For Insurance

Evening all,

I am in need of advice.

I am about to insure all my camera kit but I have hit a snag.

I have a number of items that are no longer made but to insure them I need to give a price of an equivalent item.

Can anyone suggest a replacement item for those listed below?

Item 1.
Sigma 28-135mm EF fit lens that has a macro mode switch. I can find no item near this awesome lens. I bought it way back in about 1995 can't remember how much I paid. I use this lens for macro usually.

Item 2.
Sigma 55-200 1:4 f/5.6 DC. Acquired recently from relative.

Item 3.
Sigma 70-210mm f/2.8 APO. Top notch lens that I bought c.1999 for £375 (secondhand).

Item 4.
Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens (kit version).

Item 5.
Replacement Canon Battery for a Battery Grip for a EOS 350D that would fit a 1100D (see below).

Additional:
Would you consider a Canon 1100D as a new for old replacement for 350D and a 300D?


I'm am hoping to sort the insurance on monday 2nd Sept 2013. So I need the info quickly please.

Without meaning to sound harsh, I'm not sure what the point of insuring any of those items is. The 28-135 lens can be had for $50-75 on eBay, the 18-55 & 55-200mm can both be found for around $100, the 70-210 is less than $100 and the battery maybe $50. IMO, the combined value of all of this gear is low enough that the cost spent on premiums would likely exceed that of the gear in just a year or two.

The items have to be new for old.

These items are all regularly used and would need to be replaced.

I would not purchase anything over £50 on ebay tbh.
