New guy from ohio

Just a regular guy from ohio, I am a very amateur photographer. I shoot with a Rebel Xti, with a kit 18-55mm lens. I am looking to purchase a new lens and flash in the near future. I like taking portrait style pictures compared to most. So if any one has any suggestions let me know.

Welcome to the forum, Hatchmo! I currently shoot with the XTi, too.
You might want to consider the Canon 50mm f1.8 lens for portraits. It's a good fast lens, and will only cost you about $100. I have it and use it quite a bit. It's not world class glass, but the bang for the buck can't be beat.

Yay for Ohio. And Carrollton, too! I lived in Dellroy and Carrollton for about a year. Now I'm stuck in Cleveland. Good luck with your photography! That 50mm f1.8 sounds like a good idea.
