New here..and new to photography

Hey guys! New to the boards.
Im from the Chicagoland area...I'm an avid angler and spend at least 250+ days on the water. I went from snapping pics on my iphone to wanting to capture the beautiful scenery the water has to offer. So I got a gopro and started making videos. Each video gets a little better each time. I'm not an expert on editing by any stretch but I have a lot of fun doing it.

Well i finally decided I'd like to be able to take nice pictures with all the traveling I do to fish. I'm tired of taking a picture on my point and shoot gopro and tossing the images into something like instagram.

Sooo...I just got the Nikon D3100 as I read it was a good beginners camera. I'm having a ton of fun watching youtube demonstration videos and then trying it for myself.

Well...i think thats about it!
