I am NEW at photography, so please feel free to critique my work. How else will I ever learn from you pros

It must be a girl - the feet and jeans are too clean for it to be a boy. (Either that or mom just pulled him out of the bath.)

Interesting and unusual subject, good light - the wire changes it from being a boring shot of a pair of feet and makes it apparent that you've thought about it.

Thank you Granddad It is indeed a boy, my son. If it had been summer, he runs around barefoot and would have been dirty. Here is the whole photo:

I like it; as mentioned the light is good, but I think it's a touch over-exposed. Look carefully at the area of his right foot (image left) especially around the big and second toe; there seems to be areas of blown/nearly blown highlight. I think about a 1/2 stop reduction would have fixed this. Do you review your images on the camera's LCD? If so, you may want to have it set to display clipped highlights (aka. "The blinkies") as it's very hard to notice these minor issues on a 2 1/2" or 3" LCD.
