New Lens Questions

New to this and need some help. I have a canon rebel t1i and want to get a good lens for long distance shots. Want to take animal pics, waterfalls, any type of out door pics. Can someone help please

Ran into a couple photogs last winter down at Reelfoot lake. They each had one of these and they were shooting the bald eagles. It's lighter than the 400 and cheaper than the 800. This is the wildlife lens of choice.:mrgreen:

with glass $$ talks you get what you pay for..... with canon get the white lenses or the black ones with the red ring yeah very $$$ but i have had my 70 200 L for 12 years and is still my fav

I'd check out craigslist to see if you can find any used lens before diving in for a brand new one. I found my EF 75-300mm III USM glass on craigslist from a professional photog who was selling it because she had bought the newer version. Picked it up for $80 :thumbup: . It's not a "OH MY GAWD ZOOM IS ULTIMATE" lens but it does the trick and didn't force me to become poor.

TLDR check for used, properly cared for, glass in your area.

if you wanted something nice and have the cash i would suggest sigma 70-200 f2.8 APO. Newer versions you can also get a teleconverter for and double your focal length to 140 - 400. On an aps-c snesor that would be 210 - 600mm. But if you dont have much money and just want zoom get the 70-300. cheaper lens but you get tons of zoom.
